    TESTIMONIALS

    Jordan Parker - Spring 2020

    Young Millennial class

'I don't know where my life, my finances, would have gone if I hadn't taken the Personal Finance class with Kathleen. I've repeated this sentence numerous times to family members and friends. Before I took the course, I was passive with my finances and debts, and now I can say with confidence that is not the case anymore. Kathleen not only supported me IN class with copious amounts of wisdom and support, but supported me outside of class with additional information and celebrations as I made progress and achieved small "wins." I cannot recommend this course enough, but moreso, Kathleen Rumford. I mean every word.

    Jamie Wiger - Spring 2020

    Young Millennial class

Taking this personal finance class with Mrs. Rumford has been so helpful and truly came at the perfect time. Prior to taking the class, I had a minimal understanding of my finances or how to properly budget. I feel so much more confident now managing my money and following a budget. Mrs. Rumford is so knowledgeable and was so helpful throughout the class. She helped me realize that the small decisions I make about my money now will make the biggest difference in my future. I truly believe that this class is relevant no matter what stage of life you are in, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn a little bit more about finances.

    Heather Little - Spring 2020

    Young Millennial class

Taking the Personal Finance class with Kathleen has been so helpful. I majored in Economics in college, but knowing the theory of credit, debt, and budget constraints doesn't necessarily mean you're applying that theory in practice. The lessons, Kathleen's guidance, and the conversations with my peers in the course pushed me to actually sit down and create a budget, to be more cognizant of my spending, and to think about my long term financial plans as a young person. I would highly recommend this course!

    Kaila Diaz - Fall 2019

    Young Millennial class

Kathleen is a fantastic instructor with a true passion for what she’s teaching. My husband and I recently took a class with Kathleen, along with several other 20-somethings, and the class left us all thinking “Why don’t they teach this as a standard course in school?!” It is just so, so relevant, and no one should be allowed to “graduate into adulthood” without learning this stuff :P We know that no matter what life stage we're at that starting wise financial habits NOW will really help us in the future. We thank Kathleen for helping us. We could really feel how genuinely she cares about her students and their success. She worked with us to help get us on a path toward achieving our financial goals. Thank you for such a worthwhile investment in our future!

    Ryan & Lauren Allen - Fall 2019

    Young Millennial class

Through the financial course that my wife and I took with Kathleen, we feel 100% more confident in dealing with our finances. We learned crucial financial information that we wouldn’t have even thought to look at before the course. Now, my wife and I know how to budget well and truly manage our money with wisdom and discernment thanks to Kathleen. We are in our early 20s and, honestly, we wish we had learned this stuff even earlier. Not only did Kathleen teach my wife and me so much, but she also fostered a community for a group of us in our 20s to grow together and learn how to be financially responsible.  The earlier you can get ahold of this information the better! And if you are lucky enough to have the chance, I recommend Kathleen Rumford as an instructor.

    Amy Cole - Fall 2019

    Young Millennial class

This Personal Finance class gave me language for the future. I am 19 years old and don’t pay for a mortgage or insurance yet, however this class gave me words to what is coming in the next seasons of life. It also gave me foundational information for how to manage my money and what a healthy perspective of money is. This class is extremely relevant and has been the bridge into my next stage of life. Mrs. Rumford taught this class with 'the heart of a teacher' and was so faithful in walking with me throughout the class. I highly recommend taking Mrs. Rumford's course!

    Courtney & Daniel Salazar - Fall 2019

    Young Millennial class

My husband & I took a personal finance course with Kathleen and were blown away by her wisdom! She guided us through the process of becoming debt free (someday soon!). We can’t thank her enough!

    Evan MG - 2020

    High School class

Taking Mrs. Rumford's finance class as a high schooler in 2012-2013, gave me a great edge on understanding financial terminology and getting ahead later with my investment strategies. She cares about her students and pushes them to succeed so that they can establish a strong and diverse financial footing early in life. Highly recommended for everyone!

    Steven Gresham - 2019

    High School class

Kathleen's finance class back in high school (2010-2011) was easily the best thing I've ever done concerning my education. To this day, I've retained more information in her one class than I have with any other. Finances can crush you without understanding, yet it can build a firm foundation in a difficult world if you learn it! You can tell Kathleen is excited to teach finance, as it was exciting for me to learn and participate with ease.

    Elissa Rumford - 2017

    High School class

Starting at a young age, Kathleen Rumford (my mom) taught me crucial skills and mindsets for strategically handling my finances. I also took her financial course when I was 17 (2013) and reviewed it again when I was almost 21 (2017). As I've gotten older and faced more responsibilities, It has become blatantly obvious how important this financial wisdom really is. As I look around at my early 20s peers, the majority of whom haven't even been taught basic budgeting, I realize how much of an advantage I've been blessed with. There is such a desperate need for the knowledge that Kathleen has to impart for people of all ages!

    Sophia P - 2016

    High School class

This personal finance class did 3 major things for me. First, it raised awareness of my financial situation and upcoming needs. Second, it made me realize that all of the little choices that I make with my money are so important. This has given me an idea of how I need to be handling money. Third, it's made me dream about what my future financial state could be and has given me concrete examples of how to get there. Overall, I feel much more ready to face the world of finances being confident in my own knowledge and having ideas of where to look for help when I need it.

    Kaysee S - 2015

    High School class

As a college sophomore, worrying about credit and finding ways to take out car loans are things my friends have been talking about recently. I told them about the sinking fund concept (dividing the full amount needed by the # of months they have so they save up until they have enough cash) and how budgeting is extremely important in everyday life. There have been times I've run so low on money that I don't think I'll be able to last the next week, but once I put together a budget, my finances all make sense on where each dollar needs to go and where I can save or spend. It saves so much stress, and financial stress may as well be one of the most difficult to handle!

    Anne B - 2018

    Mom of High School participant

I attribute much of my daughter's financial prowess to the things she learned with Kathleen in 2014. She is now 22 and still putting into effect the principles that impacted her to be a careful spender, a good planner, and wise with her budget. She has made it her goal to stay out of debt and away from the use of credit cards. Not only a blessing to her but to this mama's heart as well!

    A little more about ME

    Founder of Katalytic Empowerment

I'm Kathleen Rumford, a software engineer / math nerd by nature, education, and early employment but also a 15-year veteran homeschooling mom of 2 daughters. Both of my daughters dual-enrolled in high school and then went on to college, with the oldest even completing her Master’s degree in Spanish Sociolinguistics, and both girls own their own businesses (entrepreneurs from a young age!).

In hosting the "Homeschooling thru High School" Facebook group, I've heard from many of you that you're just not sure how to get started and/or you're wondering if you're doing enough in the late middle school years and early high school years. So I've put together the High School Framework mini-course and the Transcript mini-course, based on my own experience and in working with many homeschool high school moms the past 10 years. I’ve logically and methodically deconstructed both of these into manageable pieces in order to simplify, speed up, and organize the process for successful completion.

I pray that these homeschool resources bless you and your student along the High School Journey!
